The 42" Rotatrim cutter that I bought new and have been using for over 40 years finally needed the blade wheel to be replaced. The steel blade was fine, but its attached rubber drive wheel was now disintegrating and binding. I ordered a replacement blade kit from Amplis and it was ready for pickup in just a few days. I watched a video provided by Rotatrim to learn what I needed to do, and found the procedure quite straightforward. The only step that proved challenging was compressing the spring enough while fitting the new blade wheel onto the shaft. It proved a lot harder then shown in the video. And you need to be very careful here so that whatever tool you use to help you compress the spring doesn't slip and cause your hand to get pushed into the very sharp blade wheel. I first tried a large flat-blade screwdriver, and then found small pliers locked open to straddle the shaft (not grip it) proved better. After several attempts, I succeeded and the rest of the reassembly was simple. The cutter now slides easily again, capable of precisely trimming off whisper thin excess amounts of paper along its full 36" length.
